Jakarta Flood Monitoring Web

Jakarta’s Flood Monitoring platform gives real-time updates on water levels, flood zones, and safety recommendations. In times of crisis, people needed information fast. My role was to make that information easier to understand and act on.

Bringing calm and clarity to a high-stress moment

The original site had technical terms, unclear navigation, and long explanations. In an emergency, users needed to quickly know what’s happening, where it’s happening, and what they should do.

What I worked on

  • Rewrote headings, labels, and alerts to be direct and action-oriented

  • Simplified language without removing key information

  • Structured the homepage for faster scanning

  • Collaborated with designers to ensure clarity on desktop and mobile

What changed after the update

  • Improved user understanding of key terms and status levels

  • More users accessed the right sections at the right time

  • The tone and layout became a model for other emergency tools in the city

What I learned

This project showed me the value of empathy in design. Writing for stressful moments means choosing every word carefully, and focusing on what users need to see first.
